2022

Background

Sometimes the stars align just right.  Such has been the case for a lot of the history of JHS media.  None more so than the 2021-22 school year.  Students in the first year radio/tv class were given a fictional research project on wether 93.7 should invest in a bigger digital platform or purchase a larger non-commercial signal like 91.7.  After bringing in members of the current radio board of directors, students presented their findings in team format.  A winner was never declared.  However, this hypothetical soon became a possible reality when our station engineer ran across a listing for a non-commercial signal for sale in Jasper, Indiana.  Several months later, another power increase that JHS students never thought was possible, was no longer a fantasy.

With the increase range, it was decided that the mission of 93.7 would not suffice anymore.  Focus went from JHS students to students throughout Dubois county.  Music went from niche and eclectic to more broad and wide reaching.  Content went from high school specific to community specific.  Even the coveted Scratch name was changed to reflect this new mission.

Thus 91.7 The Curve was born!  Playing Adult Album Alternative music with a focus on the Dubois county community.
