Academic Success

Ellie Smith, sophomore, smiles with her first-place ribbon on February 8th. Smith competed in the psychology portion of the Oakland City Academic Contest, gaining a perfect score of 50/50. Along with Ellie Smith,  Andrew Davis, junior, also received a second-place ribbon. After reading William Shakespeare’s classic play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, students were challenged to memorize a sonnet and perform it in front of the class.  Learning and reciting the words of Shakespeare by memory proved to be very challenging, and many students struggled to remember the difficult prose. Hooked on Wrestling

Senior Jeb Prechtel was hooked after seeing his older cousins wrestling. Prechtel started his own journey of wrestling in kindergarten where he learned the basics. At age 18 he recently celebrated his 100th win and is en route to semi-state.
