Ellie Smith, sophomore, smiles with her first-place ribbon on February 8th. Smith competed in the psychology portion of the Oakland City Academic Contest, gaining a perfect score of 50/50. Along with Ellie Smith, Andrew Davis, junior, also received a second-place ribbon. After reading William Shakespeare’s classic play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, students were challenged to memorize a sonnet and perform it in front of the class. Learning and reciting the words of Shakespeare by memory proved to be very challenging, and many students struggled to remember the difficult prose. Teaching the new generations of teachers. On February 15th, Mrs. Venderley, A new teacher at Jasper High School, Took her students to USI for “Be A Teacher Day!” Mrs. Venderley Teaches ED professions, principles of teaching, and child adolescents. Senior Jeb Prechtel was hooked after seeing his older cousins wrestling. Prechtel started his own journey of wrestling in kindergarten where he learned the basics. At age 18 he recently celebrated his 100th win and is en route to semi-state. Even though he has accomplished one major goal he doesn’t plan on stopping. “I did not celebrate my 100th win,” said Prechtel, “because I still have more things to finish.” […]
The Jasper's girls bowling team advanced to state for the 3rd year in a row, proving to everyone that they were competitors, and were making a name for themselves in the bowling world. This year, at state on February 11, they exceeded everyone's expectations, placing 5th with an average of 169. The Wildcats won against Evansville Christian on January 13th. The score was 42-23 Jasper with Carlee Rogers as the leading scorer. Rogers has started varsity her Freshman and Sophomore year.
